Mary Margaret Powrie is a filmmaker, writer, festival programmer and digital creator. Her practice is rooted in the archive, memory, and its traces, as well as themes of family and legacy.

Her film, docSam doc, is an experimental biography about her late father, Dr. Semeon B. Hrushovetz, former physician, researcher and TV show host from Winnepeg, Manitoba. It explores themes of grief and memory through his legacy and lifelong passions for learning and longevity. It will be screened at Paradise Theatre for Doc Now 2026.
