Mary Margaret (MM) Powrie is a filmmaker, writer, festival programmer and digital creator. Her practice is rooted in archive, memory and traces, reflecting themes of family, resilience and legacy.
Her film, DocSam, is a personal portrait of her 96-year-old father, Dr. Semeon B. Hrushovetz, a Winnipeg physician, researcher and host of the 1990s TV show ‘Health and Longevity’. The film explores DocSam’s life and legacy through his many passions. It is screening on June 17 at Paradise Theatre as part of Doc Now 2026.
