Mary Margaret (MM) Powrie is a filmmaker, writer, festival programmer and digital creator. Her practice is rooted in archive, memory, and traces, reflecting themes of family, resilience, and legacy.

Her film, DocSam, is a personal portrait of her late father, Dr. Semeon B. Hrushovetz, a Winnipeg physician, researcher and TV show host. The film explores his life and legacy through his lifelong passions for learning and longevity. It will screen at Paradise Theatre for Doc Now 2026.
