Mary Margaret Powrie is a filmmaker and writer whose practice is rooted in themes of family, traces, and legacy through reflections on archive and memory.
Her film, DocSam, is a personal portrait of her 96-year-old father, Dr. Semeon B. Hrushovetz, a Winnipeg physician, researcher and host of the 1990s TV show ‘Health and Longevity’. The film explores his life and legacy through family interviews and archival footage.
The film will be screened at Paradise Theatre as a part of DOC NOW 2026.
