Mary Margaret Powrie is a filmmaker, writer, festival programmer and digital creator. Her practice is rooted in archive, memory, and traces, reflecting themes of family, resilience, and legacy.

Her film, docSam doc, is a personal portrait of her father, Dr. Semeon B. Hrushovetz, a former physician, researcher and TV show host from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The film explores his life and legacy through his lifelong passions for learning and longevity. It will be screened at Paradise Theatre for Doc Now 2026.
