Multi-Media Installation
Jessica Wu is a visual artist with a background in journalism and documentary studies. She is interested in retracing stories of immigration through cultural, political and historical lenses to address ever-entangled questions of identity and diaspora.
Her work, Sparrows (麻雀) explores the ways in which diasporic members organize mahjong games as a means to create community, negotiate identity, and counter dominant political discourses. The multi-media work, which invites audiences to sit at a mahjong table and interact, will be featured at Whippersnapper Gallery for Doc Now 2026.
